Estée Lauder - Deluxe EyeShadow Compact

I've never been much of an eye shadow girl, I'll usually keep things simple with a liquid eye-liner and some mascara. So since I've started blogging about beauty I've told myself that I need to buy and experiment with more eye shadow's! I've always felt that I haven't got the right shape eyes for eye shadow and never think it looks very flattering on me, but hey-ho I'm giving it a go!

So it's the end of the month and finally pay day tomorrow, thank the lord! Unfortunately I couldn't afford to get my hands on a new pallet... however, I rummaged around the house and came across my sister's Estée Lauder Deluxe EyeShadow Compact. I think this is about 2 years old and I had a go at finding it on the Estée Lauder website but I couldn't seem to find it! But after looking on Amazon and Ebay the prices for this pallet ranged from £20-30. Personally, if I was going to pay that price for an eye shadow pallet I would not have chose this one as I'm not too keen on a lot of the shades. However there are a total of 18 shades and there are at least 7 of them that I think are lovely (mainly the more neutral/earthy tones).

My favourite shades are 04 and 14 which are matte shades- obviously you can see in the picture 14 is slightly darker and has more of a grey tint. These shades would be good for an eyebrow! I used 14 for mine. Unfortunately the photo isn't a great representation of what the colours look like in real life...boo. But two shimmery shades that I love are 63 and 07. They're really nice glowing shades that have a tiny bit of glitter tint in them and once blended they look so pretty! Those are just 4 of the shades I'm keen on and have actually tried, but it's looking good for some of the others too! For the price tag, I thought they would be a bit stronger in colour but they're surprisingly really subtle and you have to re-apply lots to get the full colour that is displayed in the pallet, although, they blend really well!

So...I put together a really subtle look using 07, 63, 14 and 60. This is quite a nice/day time Autumnal look as it has a tiny tint of red in it. These colours make the colour of my eyes pop as well which is always a good thing! (Not entirely sure why my skin looks so patchy in mouldy in this photo?) Kind of just realised how stupidly subtle my eye shadow is!? I promise it looks a lot more lively in person hahah.
Another quick thing I picked up and love this month is this Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Revitalise perfume. I picked this up from Boots for £10 on offer and love it! It's really crisp and fresh and the perfect scent for cold months. I highly recommend keeping your eye out for this because it's lovely!

Sorry this post has been kind of boring, I will spoil myself on pay day tomorrow and buy lots of goodies to talk about! Feel free to comment with anything, send me your links so I can check out some of your lovely blogs :)

ps. I'd love it if you gave me a follow on bloglovin' pretty please!

More MUA... Double Take Lipstick

Back again...

Sorry it's been a while since my last post, oops! This week I'm blogging about MUA Double Take Lipsticks which I'm very impressed with! After seeing a MUA tweet that there was up to 75% off of selected products I thought I'd take a look as I didn't think it was possible for MUA's incredibly low prices to get any lower- well apparently it was

I wasn't expecting much from these, as it was an impulse buy and they were just £1.50 reduced from £7 which I thought was amazing! I waste £1.50 at least once a day on sweets and unhealthy food so I thought I'd spend my money on a healthier (non edible) alternative which definately paid off!

So I chose Fashionista Double Take Lipstick in Ultra Pink (Right) and Aubergine (Left). I chose the bright pink because I never really venture out to bright colours but I thought for £1.50, it wouldn't be much of a loss if I was to dislike it. I chose Aubergine because I thought the dark maroon/brown shade was perfect for these cold Autumn months! When I received them I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product. The packaging is really cute but simple, just a metallic red tube that reminds me of christmas (as does EVERYTHING at the moment...so excited) and is fairly small and thin so can fit nicely...well, anywhere you want it to fit!

When I saw the colours I got I was a bit nervous as the only bright colours I wear on my lips are Rimmel London's Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in shade 110 and 107. But these were slightly on another level. The pink is well...very pink, whilst the Aubergine is very dark! Firstly I tried the Aubergine which quite frankly went terribly wrong...it was SO hard to apply because it was just so dark. It was either very blotchy or very dark and messy around the edges, I'd definately recommend wearing a lip pencil with this shade just to make the edges a little neater.

I also HATE it when you talk and can see the inside part of your lip that lipstick just never applies to, well that happened a lot with this colour! I think because it was just so dark it really made the pink of the gum bit (I hope you all know what bit I'm talking about?) stand out a lot which isn't really a very good look! After applying it lightly and blotting it a bit to make it a little more subtle and blended, I did quite like this lipstick but it would be very difficult to reapply on the go because you have to get it just right before it is wearable and acceptable to the public eye!

The Ultra Pink however, I LOVE! It is such a nice colour, although it's so bright, it's not too crazy and is just really flattering of my skin tone, yay! It was also really easy to apply in comparison to the Aubergine. I think most pinky shades are easier to apply as they're closer to your natural lip colour than a near on black lipstick so therefore aren't too pokey and out of place on your lips.

Although a bit disappointed with the Aubergine (however loving the pink), the texture and finish of these lipsticks cannot be put to fault! They are just so smooth to apply and really creamy. "Lusciously creamy in texture, the unique formula leaves a full-pigmented, modern matte finish while hydrating for maximum comfort for high impact velvety smooth lips" I totally agree with every part of this statement from the MUA Website.

Whilst super moisturising and soft to apply is isn't at all shiny (which I dislike since discovering matte lipsticks) like a Vaseline Balm for example. The colours of these lipsticks are SO pigmented as you can see from the swatches above. There is two layers of the Ultra Pink and just one very thin and blotted layer of the Aubergine so that gives you an idea of just how pigmented they are. They're totally build-able, so you could go for a more subtle look (although not majorly subtle) or a really vibrant look.
I wore the pink lipstick for a whole school day (about 7 hours) without having to reapply and the colour was pretty much just as bright just less thick as it was when I applied- that's after having lunch and drinking without reapplying. As the colour wears off your lips can become kind of dry but not in a bad way as they still seem to feel velvety and soft. The colour doesn't get lighter but just becomes a little less thicker and glossy from when you first apply it, as it wears off it kind of feels like a stain- you don't notice/feel it's there any more but the colour is still bright as ever!

Sorry for how much I rave about MUA, but at the moment a lot of their products are best suited to what I want and what I can afford (sad, I know!). But I truly feel that the products I buy from them are totally worth the small amount of money that they cost and can often be a really surprising product! I'll definately be buying more of these lipsticks and I have my eye on Atomic Tangerine and Buff but unfortunately they're out of stock on the website at the moment, but I'll be waiting!! I hope you enjoyed this post and check out the sale on their website because there are some major bargains over there! x

Have you bought any MUA products recently, am I the only person obsessed!? Also, feel free to comment below with your blog links as i'd love to have a read. :)

Motel Rocks Playsuit

Hello!

Just a quick post about a playsuit which I wore to a friends 18th last night! I'd never really heard of Motel Rocks, as Misguided is usually my go-to place for party outfits, but after signing up to Uni Days (which I highly recommend doing, especially for gifts now Christmas is approaching- YAY!) I noticed an offer for 25% off there so I thought I'd take a look- the pricing there is probably fairly similar to Topshop pricing, a little expensive! But to my surprise when I visited the page it offered me £10 spending credit if I signed up to a newsletter which was handy...

This playsuit started at £45 but after £10 and 25% off I paid £37.70 (as post and packaging was £3.95), I ordered it in a size up from my usual size because it was a baggy playsuit anyway, and if the prices were anything like Topshop then I thought the maybe the sizes were too (tiny)!

I was really happy when it arrived but I kind of wish I did get it a size down as it was a bit too baggy in some places but I was really pleased with the quality of it, the material was surprisingly thick and kept me warm so I didn't need to pair it with a jacket or anything and I thought the feathered pattern was so cute and different!

Below isn't really a great picture of what it looks like but this was just a brief post! :) hope you enjoyed it x

Mini Superdrug Haul

Back again! If you read my last post you'd know that I was waiting for a delivery well, it's hereee! So I'm going to do a short haul of everything I got. Enjoy!

Firstly, I have had my eye on Sleek Blusher for a while now after seeing various Youtubers using/buying it including Tanya Burr *cough* obsessed...and Zoella; my two favourite Youtubers without a doubt! So I thought it was about time I got some for myself. Personally I don't really think reds and pinks suit my skin tone very well so I was looking for more of a orange or brown blush - but that backfired because I think I chose the pinkest blusher in their variety of 10 shades. I found it really hard to chose a blusher online because you never really know what the colour is actually going to turn out like (we don't have a superdrug with Sleek in on the little Isle of Wight, typical) but after hunting through swatch posts and Youtube videos I gave up entirely and decided to go with a spontaneous choice of Pixi Pink. This put me back just £4.49 which I thought was a bargain after the amazing reviews I've heard.

When I first applied that I was obviously a little heavy handed and under estimated the amazing pigmentation of this product, because I looked a little like Noddy. I really love how pigmented it is because not only does it give you a nice cheekbone but it means that the product is going to last longer than those that are less pigmented, yay! It's also fairly small which is nice and I LOVE the huge mirror it comes with because who doesn't love a compact mirror. So yes, I'm very happy with this product and definately want to purchase another one.

Whilst looking at Sleek products I came across a nude lipstick which I've been after for a while now, after seeing various celebrities pulling them off and it being a nice Autumn shade! So it got this one (right) from the True Colour collection for £4.99 (another bargain) in Nude. I got this in Sheen however was a little bit disappointed when it arrived as I thought I had ordered it in matte, boo. But I put some transparent powder over the top of my lips after applying it and they look just as good as matte and it felt a lot more secure on my lips too.

The colour is really nice, and again really pigmented! The shade suited my skin tone surprisingly well, I didn't want it to look as if I had foundation on my lips but It's luckily slightly darker than my skin tone so looks nice, but I think I'd probably stay away from this lipstick if I had a tan! I wanted the product in matte because I usually find that they last longer than sheen lipsticks and I'm completely obsessed with matte lipstick after buying Kate Mosses Lasting Finish Matte Collection in 111, 101 & 110. But this one seems to last really well for a good few hours.

I already have a few MUA products including the amazing Pro Eyebrow Kit (£3.50) which I highly recommend. Personally I think MUA products are really good quality, considering the price, so when I saw that their blushers and bronzer's were just a pound I thought, why not
I chose the blusher in Lolly which is a new peachy/pinky matte colour and really pigmented! I love the colour so much and think it's really flattering on my skin tone so am very pleased with this blusher for the amazing price of £1. It's also really easy to apply and I thought it felt really creamy, which I wasn't expecting.

I chose the Bronzer in Shade 1, the lightest shade out of the three choices. This shade is very subtle with slight shimmer in, although I know not all of them are shimmery as somewhere, I have a MUA matte bronzer. I never usually chose shimmery products as I don't really like how it looks on me but this product it's really subtly and gives me a nice glow that isn't too sparkly and in your face! Unlike the blusher however, it isn't very pigmented, boohoo. Definately need a few layers for this one! The packaging for both the products is nice though, although very simple and not too jazzy. Due to the clear pallet you can find the shade you're looking for easily unlike Sleek products or example where the colour of the product is blacked out. Well done MUA, you've done it again!

Lastly, Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - another Tanya Burr inspired product! I've wanted one of these brushes since I started watching Tanya Burr's videos, over a year ago but I've always tried finding alternatives and putting off buying one because they're on average £10 which seems a lot for a make-up brush. After reading a huge handful of reviews I have not heard one negative comment about Real Techniques brushes and I had to buy one at some point so I thought today may as well be the day, so I did and not surprisingly, I am already obsessed! Which brings me to think, why did it take me so long to get one!? I paid £8.99 for this brush from Superdrug which now, I don't think is bad value for what you get! It gives my face such a flawless finish and I've wanted a nice brush for a while now so that I get out of the bad habit of using my hands, and here it is! I can definately tell the difference on the finish of my make-up and I'll definately be buying more of these brushes. Everything is good about them, the brush it's self, the handle, the design. Perfecto!

Barbara Daley - Oil-Free Foundation

Hi! (Firstly I'd like to apologise for the bad photos! I had some good photos for this post but had to re take them due to google deleting all my photos on my blog, booo :( )

So, my first post is finally here!
After being inpatient waiting on a make-up order from superdrug I decided to head up to Tesco last night (with my 20% staff discount, lovely!) and buy something else that I could feature in my first post!

I never really wear foundation unless maybe going out of an evening and want a really flawless complexion, usually I just apply concealer to my dark (a-level prone) eyes, red cheeks and any blemishes I might have with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer-20.

Although, I'm on a hunt for a foundation that will even my skin tone a little more whilst not being so cakey and obvious, so that I'm not going through 2 bottles of concealer every month! Barbara Daly's Oil-Free Foundation caught my eye, mainly because it was on offer ...and I'd never really paid much attention to it before because I'd never seen it in any drug stores which is where I usually buy my make-up. Then later I got home to find that Barbara Daly is a brand made exclusively for Tesco and Barbara Daly is a professional make-up artist from the UK, working with people like Twiggy and Margaret Thatcher.

I picked this up from Tesco (obviously) for £8, on sale which I thought was really good value. There was also a 3 for 2 deal but I thought I ought to not spend any more of my very limited money.

I like the bottle too, not only is it a cute frosted glass bottle (which reminds me so much of Christmas?!) it's quite small so I can easily fit it in my on the go make-up bag. The application for this foundation is a bit odd...it's a spatula type wand that you can use to put it directly onto your face. Although it's handy in the way that you can just wipe it straight on your skin it's also pretty messy for someone as clumsy as me and I've already spilt it all down myself (typical Scarlett...).

When applying this, I just used my fingers which probably isn't great for my skin...but that's how I usually do it, oops! (although, I have ordered a new Real Techniques Brush which I'll be talking about soon if it ever arrives). It went on really easily, it feels really light on my skin and I can't feel it like you can with some high coverage foundations. The only word I can think of to describe the smell of this foundation is 'nan', it's a typical nan smelling product which is, I think, one of the only negatives! This foundation is medium coverage, and I chose Almond which (I think) is a really nice yellow-toned colour that matches me perfectly (this foundation comes in five different shades- Ivory, Porcelain, Almond, Beige & Honey)!

'A light and silky formula that glides on smoothly for a long-lasting, satin finish' -definately agree with this! So easy to apply, has lasted me all day, and my face is so soft when it's on and not sticky at all which is always a nightmare. Another bonus is that it's not really shiny, I sometimes like dewy foundations to give me a glow but not to the point where my face looks like it's melting! I'd say this foundation was more of a matte look than a dewy one. It also has SPF 12 in which is perfect for this beautiful weather...umm.

Overall I really like this foundation and I think I would probably repurchase it if it don't become bored of it, which usually happens with any foundations I buy.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you found it some what interesting!? Ask me any questions below/ follow me on instagram or twitter all linked on my page! :) x

After: Below
The picture isn't great, but I took one before all of my photos got deleted and it was much clearer as my skin was really red at the time, and it tackled it really well! In this example, any redness I do have around my nose/cheeks has gone, and this is just one layer!

Did Someone Say Newbie?

Hello!

I'm Scarlett, I'm 17 and live on the Isle of Wight! I'm currently doing my second year of levels (yawn), and everything's started to get pretty serious in terms of university/further education! I'm studying English Language, Media Studies and Sociology (after finally dropping business), all three subjects I do really enjoy. I love Media and am hoping to go onto Uni to study it, and whilst planning my personal statement...realised I need to find myself a hobby that I can use to sell myself that has slight relevance to the field I want to go into (ramble over). So, I though...BLOG!

I've been interested in blogging/for a while now, as I'm obsessed with Tanya Burr's beauty blog and Youtube channel! I really enjoy reading beauty blog's and i know that a lot of other people do, so I've decided to start my own. I'd love a Youtube channel but I'm so nervous about it, if this blog turns out okay then I may consider doing the occasional haul! Being on a bit of a budget as a 17 year old with  a part time job, I have decided to buy one product per week, be it clothes, make-up, hair products, shoes or whatever I have found and loved that week and write a review for you with pictures of the product/swatches etc, possibly more than one a week if I 'accidentally' go over budget and splash out (which is quite often)! whoops!

I may also include personal posts, so if i have a nice day out or go on holiday (...here's hoping) then i'll include that :-)  So, there will be a little bit of variety about the blog! I think i'll be blogging 1-3 times a week as I need to fit in time for school work or else uni could be a no-go, and that would be awkward!

Thank you for reading this, pretty please comment/follow!!
