Back again...
Sorry it's been a while since my last post, oops! This week I'm blogging about MUA Double Take Lipsticks which I'm very impressed with! After seeing a MUA tweet that there was up to 75% off of selected products I thought I'd take a look as I didn't think it was possible for MUA's incredibly low prices to get any lower- well apparently it was!
I wasn't expecting much from these, as it was an impulse buy and they were just £1.50 reduced from £7 which I thought was amazing! I waste £1.50 at least once a day on sweets and unhealthy food so I thought I'd spend my money on a healthier (non edible) alternative which definately paid off!
So I chose Fashionista Double Take Lipstick in Ultra Pink (Right) and Aubergine (Left). I chose the bright pink because I never really venture out to bright colours but I thought for £1.50, it wouldn't be much of a loss if I was to dislike it. I chose Aubergine because I thought the dark maroon/brown shade was perfect for these cold Autumn months! When I received them I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product. The packaging is really cute but simple, just a metallic red tube that reminds me of christmas (as does EVERYTHING at the moment...so excited) and is fairly small and thin so can fit nicely...well, anywhere you want it to fit!
I also HATE it when you talk and can see the inside part of your lip that lipstick just never applies to, well that happened a lot with this colour! I think because it was just so dark it really made the pink of the gum bit (I hope you all know what bit I'm talking about?) stand out a lot which isn't really a very good look! After applying it lightly and blotting it a bit to make it a little more subtle and blended, I did quite like this lipstick but it would be very difficult to reapply on the go because you have to get it just right before it is wearable and acceptable to the public eye!
The Ultra Pink however, I LOVE! It is such a nice colour, although it's so bright, it's not too crazy and is just really flattering of my skin tone, yay! It was also really easy to apply in comparison to the Aubergine. I think most pinky shades are easier to apply as they're closer to your natural lip colour than a near on black lipstick so therefore aren't too pokey and out of place on your lips.Whilst super moisturising and soft to apply is isn't at all shiny (which I dislike since discovering matte lipsticks) like a Vaseline Balm for example. The colours of these lipsticks are SO pigmented as you can see from the swatches above. There is two layers of the Ultra Pink and just one very thin and blotted layer of the Aubergine so that gives you an idea of just how pigmented they are. They're totally build-able, so you could go for a more subtle look (although not majorly subtle) or a really vibrant look.
Sorry for how much I rave about MUA, but at the moment a lot of their products are best suited to what I want and what I can afford (sad, I know!). But I truly feel that the products I buy from them are totally worth the small amount of money that they cost and can often be a really surprising product! I'll definately be buying more of these lipsticks and I have my eye on Atomic Tangerine and Buff but unfortunately they're out of stock on the website at the moment, but I'll be waiting!! I hope you enjoyed this post and check out the sale on their website because there are some major bargains over there! x
Have you bought any MUA products recently, am I the only person obsessed!? Also, feel free to comment below with your blog links as i'd love to have a read. :)
I love how bright those colours are! I think I'll be trying these next...
