Barbara Daley - Oil-Free Foundation

Hi! (Firstly I'd like to apologise for the bad photos! I had some good photos for this post but had to re take them due to google deleting all my photos on my blog, booo :( )

So, my first post is finally here!
After being inpatient waiting on a make-up order from superdrug I decided to head up to Tesco last night (with my 20% staff discount, lovely!) and buy something else that I could feature in my first post!

I never really wear foundation unless maybe going out of an evening and want a really flawless complexion, usually I just apply concealer to my dark (a-level prone) eyes, red cheeks and any blemishes I might have with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer-20.

Although, I'm on a hunt for a foundation that will even my skin tone a little more whilst not being so cakey and obvious, so that I'm not going through 2 bottles of concealer every month! Barbara Daly's Oil-Free Foundation caught my eye, mainly because it was on offer ...and I'd never really paid much attention to it before because I'd never seen it in any drug stores which is where I usually buy my make-up. Then later I got home to find that Barbara Daly is a brand made exclusively for Tesco and Barbara Daly is a professional make-up artist from the UK, working with people like Twiggy and Margaret Thatcher.

I picked this up from Tesco (obviously) for £8, on sale which I thought was really good value. There was also a 3 for 2 deal but I thought I ought to not spend any more of my very limited money.

I like the bottle too, not only is it a cute frosted glass bottle (which reminds me so much of Christmas?!) it's quite small so I can easily fit it in my on the go make-up bag. The application for this foundation is a bit odd...it's a spatula type wand that you can use to put it directly onto your face. Although it's handy in the way that you can just wipe it straight on your skin it's also pretty messy for someone as clumsy as me and I've already spilt it all down myself (typical Scarlett...).

When applying this, I just used my fingers which probably isn't great for my skin...but that's how I usually do it, oops! (although, I have ordered a new Real Techniques Brush which I'll be talking about soon if it ever arrives). It went on really easily, it feels really light on my skin and I can't feel it like you can with some high coverage foundations. The only word I can think of to describe the smell of this foundation is 'nan', it's a typical nan smelling product which is, I think, one of the only negatives! This foundation is medium coverage, and I chose Almond which (I think) is a really nice yellow-toned colour that matches me perfectly (this foundation comes in five different shades- Ivory, Porcelain, Almond, Beige & Honey)!

'A light and silky formula that glides on smoothly for a long-lasting, satin finish' -definately agree with this! So easy to apply, has lasted me all day, and my face is so soft when it's on and not sticky at all which is always a nightmare. Another bonus is that it's not really shiny, I sometimes like dewy foundations to give me a glow but not to the point where my face looks like it's melting! I'd say this foundation was more of a matte look than a dewy one. It also has SPF 12 in which is perfect for this beautiful weather...umm.

Overall I really like this foundation and I think I would probably repurchase it if it don't become bored of it, which usually happens with any foundations I buy.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you found it some what interesting!? Ask me any questions below/ follow me on instagram or twitter all linked on my page! :) x

The picture isn't great, but I took one before all of my photos got deleted and it was much clearer as my skin was really red at the time, and it tackled it really well! In this example, any redness I do have around my nose/cheeks has gone, and this is just one layer!

(Oh and I always apply Nivea Express Hydration Primer before applying any concealer/foundation just so it glides on a bit easier! This is literally like splashing your face with cold quick-drying water, so refreshing! I highly recommend this! £4.99 Boots.)
